Your dog spends a lot of time waiting for you to come home from work or other events. As a result, some dogs get stressed and others get angry. Furbo’s premise is to control your pet when you are not at home. This allows them to evaluate their behavior and calm them down when they are under stress
Let’s see how well it works in this Furbo dog camera review.
- For this pet cam review, we were impressed with the sleek design of Furbo. Although, it was a little bigger than expected. The device was also really easy to set up.
- Once you plug it in, you just download the Furbo app on your mobile device from the iTunes or Android Play store. Follow the on-screen instructions, and you’re all set to go.
- Another pro of Furbo is how simple it is to load treats. Just pop off the top, and fill it to max capacity. The camera also produces high-quality video and has decent night vision. The barking alert is very functional as well.
- Furthermore, Furbo comes with free shipping in the United States, a 30-day money-back guarantee and a one-year warranty.
- The only disadvantage that we experienced for this Furbo dog camera review was the capacity and size restrictions for treats. They need to be rather small and rounded to fit through the dispenser.
Tomofun has been a very successful packaging design with Furbo. Upon shipment arrival for this pet cam review, I removed a brown box from the standard shipping box. Inside the brown box was the retail packaging. The outer shell of the product packaging is white and provides an overview of all functions.
The sleeve slides off to reveal the outline of Furbo on the front of another brown box. Lay it down face up, and lift the front of the box to reveal a nicely displayed Furbo inside. When you pull out the cardboard that the device is laying in, you can see the rest of the contents.
Here’s a list of everything that you find inside of the retail packaging:
- Furbo dog camera,
- USB power wall adapter,
- 7-foot non-tangle charging cable with USB and micro USB connectors, and
- quick start guide.
- Design and Highlights
Furbo has a modern design with smooth curves and a glossy finish. The bamboo leaves contrast with the white body and are eco-friendly. It is about 9 cm long, 4.75 cm wide, and 6 cm deep. These dimensions make it thin enough to fit discreetly on the edge of a shelf. On the front of Furbo, you can see the microphone and speaker at the top. Underneath it is the HD camera and then a smart light sensor. Further down is the opening for the treat dispenser.
At the very bottom of the front is the status LED indicator that glows along the bottom and in the treat dispenser. The colors change depending on the situation. In this Furbo Dog Camera review, blue light means the device is on and a yellow light means the device is in sleep mode.
The micro-USB charging port is located at the bottom of the back of the Furbo. There is a removable clip at the bottom of the device. When you open it, you will see a container to be filled with dog treats. The latch is removable so the treats can be pulled out.
There are also three 3M sticky strips on the bottom to ensure the Furbo sticks securely to any flat surface. Since the device is freestanding, these adhesives make sure that mischievous dogs don’t tip it over. The fact that it’s heavier and wider at the bottom helps with stability as well. There’s also a tripod mount on the bottom, but I haven’t tested it in this pet camera test.
This dog treats pet camera has a 720p camera and infrared LED night vision goggles. It supports a 120-degree wide-angle field of view and 4x digital zoom. Two-way audio from the microphone and speaker allows you to talk and listen to your dog. Furbo also uses a microphone for audible alarms. The mobile app notifies you when your dog is barking. The treat dispenser has a capacity of 30 treats at 1 centimeter in diameter. LED lights and sounds alert your dog to an upcoming treat so he doesn’t get upset. The voice of the device is actually the same as that of a professional trainer.
Smart Privacy Mode is unique to Furbo. It turns off automatically when it detects that your mobile device reconnects to the same Wi-Fi connection. This mod removes unwanted notifications when you are at home.
Compared to other pet cameras, the 720p quality fell a little short for this Furbo dog camera review. But the dark vision made up for it. The sound quality is almost the same as other home cameras, but there is a slight delay. Be careful when placing the Furbo near loud objects such as radio, TV, and kitchen utensils, as the microphone picks up other sounds. For ring notifications, you can adjust the sensitivity so that the device does not alert you of any sound you hear.
For this pet camera review, we tested various types of dog treats and dog food. As long as it stays within the suggested size and capacity parameters, there are no problems with getting stuck. However, multiple treats came out at once when they were smaller than recommended.
In short, Furbo is a great investment for your dog. Its modern design and unique features provide better performance than other pet cameras. LED lights and sounds are also well researched.
Furbo helps you train your dog on the go and lets you spoil it whenever he wants. But what we love most is that we spend more time with our furry family. It can be used for dogs and cats.
